With Jacquie Rolls
Saturday 20th October, 9.30am to 1.30pm
As the cold weather draws in and wild food becomes scarce, this is the time of year when we like to do what we can to help the local birdlife. A great way to do this is to create a small birdhouse from willow. The type of entrance that you create will vary depending on the type of birds that you want to attract. This is a great introduction to basic basket making techniques. As well as tuition on the day Jacquie will provide further information including links to resources/materials and how to look after willow sculptures that you keep outside.
All materials and tools will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own gloves, secateurs etc if you would prefer.
Please note that working with willow and using small tools can be tiring on the hands and requires a good level of hand dexterity. this may be difficult to do if you have arthritis or a similar condition, so please let us know if you need buff willow instead of the traditional brown (which is much tougher) as it’s kinder on the hands. Please wear clothing you are comfortable working and it is advisable to bring an extra layer, as some of the day may be spent outside.
Complimentary tea and coffee is provided throughout the session.
