February Highlights

Where has February gone?

This month has flown by and we have lots to show for it here at the d.@rt centre, after all time flies when you are having fun…

What’s New?

We have had the a wonderful week of crafts and cookery with the children during half term. From making curious creatures to baking curious cakes we have exhausted our imaginations and produced lots of excellent crafts. We are looking forward to more Easter Holiday fun in April!

The Ringwood and Rotary Photographic Exhibition has just come down from our art wall. This was a selection of photographs from children aged between 4 and 13 years of age submitted to the competition from 12 schools within Hampshire and Dorset. The winners of the competition are currently being selected! We will have another exhibition from them on 27th May called ‘Harmony’ showcasing more examples from talented young photographers.

A big thank you to our fabulous artists taking part in our latest exhibition from the Keepers Collective. If you would like to pop in and see the exhibition, it runs until 5th April, see the programme here.

There was more than one Greatest Showman on Saturday 16th Feb when we held our Greatest Showman Choral Day! We loved having so many of you join us to learn and sing our favourite songs from the film, we were delighted that it was a sell out. We have our ABBA Choral Day coming up and spaces are filling fast, so you need to get in and book quick!

Janet Beck’s Dressmaking Courses are underway! Janet is coming in and teaching how to make your own garment every Tuesday evening for the next few weeks. They have made a great start and can already see some lovely dresses being made. If you didn’t get round to sign up to the current course, she is running another 6 week course to follow starting 4th June.

We have updated our Box Office!!! You can now purchase tickets online for any upcoming school shows and d.@rt events from the ‘Little Box Office’ and its so easy. We do still take bookings over the phone, but all tickets are now e-tickets and are sent via email so they can be printed or shown on your phone at the door.

We are really pleased to see that our Children’s Saturday Club numbers are growing, we love seeing so many of you getting messy on a Saturday morning.

 Don’t Forget…

We would like to apologise for our online bookings facility for courses run at the d.@rt centre. We have been really grateful to those trying to use this and have seen some successful bookings made, however we have an ongoing issue with our software provider which is preventing most of you to book. They have promised us that online bookings is something we will be able to do in the near future, but have advised that we disable our online booking facilities while they try to solve the issue. We will keep you posted!

A wind of change is in the air! Our fabulous colleague Jon will be moving on to take up a new post at the beginning of April. Whilst we will be sorry to see Jon go from his full time post, he has promised to be back for Open Mic Nights. This leaves a vacancy for a community arts trainee, for more details click here.

Not just for children… Chef Dan’s Cookery School is up and running for both Children and Adults, lots of delicious treats have been made and there are lots of yummy recipes in the pipeline. Chef Dan’s Cookery for Adults offers a range of more detailed workshops on specific types of cooking, themes such as Vegan, Italian, Gluten Free and Easter Dinner Party treats. Chef Dan’s Cookery for Children offers classes aimed for the mini chef at ages 4-9 years and separate, more challenging classes for children aged 9+.

The Wordplay Festival is slowly approaching and we have some exciting activities up our sleeve for you to get involved in, check them out here. This is all about celebrating of words and language in and around Hedge End. This year’s festival will major on the curious and unexpected, with wordy fun for all ages at the d.@rt.
