Our activities, with the exception of the cookery sessions on Wednesdays which are split into three age groups 4+ , 8+ and 10+, are taught in a mixed age group.

The main activity runs from 10am to 3pm daily and costs £17 per child except on Cookery Wednesdays and on Teen Tuesdays when it is £22 to include ingredients.
Wrap around care is available from 9am till 10am and from 3pm until 5pm at an extra £2 per hour.
All our tutors and assistants carry current DBS certificates.

The d.@rt Centre is Ofsted registered and is able to accept childcare vouchers and Tax Free childcare payments.

Summer Holidays 2018

The d.@rt Team are just finalising the details for the 5 weeks of the summer holidays. Booking is open and all sessions are filling up quickly.

Arts, Crafts and Cookery.      Five weeks of fun activities to keep your children thirsty for knowledge and learning for fun! Linda and Zara will guide your children through a variety of art skills and techniques using a variety of different media, some small art and some enormous, working together, and independently.  Dan, Mary and our cookery team will challenge the myth that cooking by children has to be easy recipes as the children are taught exciting, mouthwatering and sometimes complex dishes both healthy and treats. Be prepared to be amazed by the achievements of even the youngest child.

Introducing Teen Tuesday.   This year we are introducing our Teen Tuesdays with the weekly session designed with the help of our young people. Remember, Cookery Wednesdays also has a class for young teens.

Introducing Science Fiction Author B.Random who will be offering writing and illustration sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Keep Dancing.  Look out for two great weeks with StageKidz  and a week of dancing with our guest dance school Platform School of Dance from Winchester.

Week 1        Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August

INVENT:  This week will get the inventor in you thinking creatively. Copy some famous inventions and design and make some of your own.

When you invent something you create something that has not existed before. It could be a story, a song, something useful or something just for fun. Linda, Zara and the cookery team will share some of the most famous inventions and help you to design and develop your own drafts or prototypes.

Monday 30th July: DESIGN: Did you know that the saxaphone was invented by Adolphe Sax in 1846? Learn about who and when some of our musical instruments were invented, think about the sounds that you would like to make and invent / design and name your own musical instrument.

Tuesday 31st July: MIXED MEDIA: Did you know that the Barbie Doll was invented by an American lady called Ruth Handler who was married to a co founder of the toy company Mattel ?  What do you think makes a toy a popular toy? Invent and build a prototype for one of your own creations!

Wednesday 1st August:

4+    Invent and make special burgers with your own accompaniments

8+    Invent new fillings for one savoury and one sweet pastry from our range of ingredients

12+  Invent your own pastry and filling for a summer quiche and create your own super salad to accompany this.

Thursday 2nd August: STORYTELLING AND ILLUSTRATION:  Why are some children’s TV shows popular and others not? Tell us your about your favourite shows and help us to invent a new children’s TV show! Think about your favourite characters from the TV and make a short pilot using the  ‘I Can Animate’ and Movie Maker programmes.

Friday 3rd August: BIG ART/ CONSTRUCTION:  Did you know that the best selling board game in England is still chess! Did you know that there is even a Super Mario version of chess? What do you think makes a good board game? Invent and make one of your own!

PLUS TEEN TUESDAY SESSION:  Tuesday 31st July Chef School

Cook and Present an Afternoon Tea Cook a selection of cakes, scones and biscuits. A competitive edge will come in at the end of the day as you present your food to the judges.

Week 2       Monday 6th August to Friday 10th August

BUILD: Problem solving and engineering are at the heart of this weeks exciting construction based activities

Monday 6th August: Drawing and Painting:   Create a blueprint for an adventure playground. Starting outside on a designated area of ground the children will put together their ideas for an adventure playground and draw a rough plan.  They will then be given the chance to develop this with paint or precision (age related)

Tuesday 7th August: Mixed Media:   Take the Lego Zip Wire Challenge!  Have a fun day working together to make the most effective zip wire and Lego pod to slide down it.

Wednesday 8th August:  Cookery

4+  Make a secret Picnic Loaf

8+  Make a Battenburg cake

10+   Make a Gingerbread house

Thursday 9th August: Storytelling and Illustration:  ‘The Amazing Rescue’  writing the storyline for an amazing rescue that needed some fabulous problem solving to make it happen.

Friday 10th August:  Big Art and Construction:  Build and paint a miniature playground with working seesaws, roundabouts, swings and slides



Tuesday 7th August Ceramics Day

Learn new skills from an expert. A day of experimenting with different techniques to create something special to take away with you.


Week 3       Monday 13th August to Friday 18th August

BUILD:  Scavenging, finding and working with found objects, What can we make? Recycling and working with natural materials creatively will be central to this weeks sessions

Monday 13th August: Drawing and Painting: Painting with feathers, leaves and sticks and other found objects

Tuesday 14th August: Mixed Media: Create a beautiful button art canvas – buttons donated by John Lewis

Wednesday 15th  August: Cookery: 

4+   Blackberry and Apple Crumble

8+   Scrumptious Apple Pie  with  Chantilly Cream

10+  Summer Fruit Pudding  with  Creme Anglais

Thursday 16th August: Storytelling and Illustration: Recreate the Adventures of a ‘Plastic Bottle’ as an animation in I can animate or i movie

Friday 17th August: Big Art and Construction: Learn about the effect the plastic has on the seas and create a piece of art work from recycled plastic



Tuesday 14th August Lego Building Competition

Taking inspiration from the recent Channel 4 programme Lego Masters, spend the day creating a building block masterpiece using your construction skills, imagination and creativity in a battle to be crowned the d.@rt Centre Lego Master.

PLUS PLUS…  A feature week of  ‘All Styles Dance’

with Platform School of Dance

Sarah and her team return to the d.@rt Centre to offer dancers of all ages the chance to use up some of their energies and learn routines in a variety of styles and finish the week by sharing a costumed performance for your parent

Younger class:   4 to 7 year olds  
9am till  -12pm  Monday to Thursday and 12pm till 3pm Friday
£40 per week
Older class:    8 – 16 year olds
10am till 3pm daily Monday to Friday
£80 per week

Week 4       Monday 20th August to Friday 24th August

Investigate: Lots of activities for the curious ! Investigate and ask why as many times as you like as we delve deeper into what, where and how.

Monday 20th August: Drawing and Painting:   An outdoor session where we explore and draw nature, then learn how to make paint using natural ingredients to complete your painting

Tuesday 21st August: Mixed Media:  Did you know that in 2014 a 10ft elephant was made out of one single piece of paper 50 feet square! WOW!  Learn the basic techniques of origami and make a selection of different origami models.

Wednesday 22nd August: Cookery: The science behind the cookery

4+  What makes  jellies wobble and cakes rise?  Make a fruit flan?

8+  What is the difference between plain flour and self raising? Make some simple lemon biscuits and a lemon sponge cake and find out.

10+ Why do we usually eat a sweet dish after a savoury one and not the other way around?      Make a Vegetable Chilli and a  Key Lime Pie

Thursday 23rd August:  Storytelling and Illustration:  Looking at the curious adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as a starting point take the main characters on another curious adventure

Friday 24th August: Big Art and Construction:  Create a giant Where’s Wally page and decide where to hide the Wally figures


Tuesday 21st August: Sewing Project Day

Make a personalised pocket reading pillow. Learn basic skills of understanding how to cut out from a pattern, simple hand stitching and straight and zig zag stitches on a sewing machine. Perfect for total beginners or those who enjoy a new sewing project.

Week 5       Tuesday 28th August to Friday 31st August

CELEBRATE:  An opportunity to enjoy a week of different celebrations at the d.@rt!

Tuesday 28th  August: Mixed Media:  Fill a Party Box with  Balloon Bunting and other party decorations ready for a family occasion.

Wednesday 29th August: Cookery

4+ Pizza Puff Pin Wheels and Party biscuits

8+ Jammy Dodgers and Iced Rings

10+ Learn some piping skills with this Funfetti Celebration Cake

Thursday 30th August: Storytelling and Illustration:  Create an animation with the title ‘It’s Party Time!’

Friday 31st August: Big Art and Construction: Getting ready to party themed arts and crafts activities.


Tuesday 28th August Chef School

October Half Term

 Christmas / New Year 2018 / 2019

We know that some of you enjoy the chance to be fully organised with your childcare throughout the year, so just to let you know that we will be running sessions in the October half term Monday 22nd October through to Friday 26th October and we will be running sessions in the New Year on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th January 2019.

Booking policy

In order to keep our holiday activities at an affordable, and accessible, rate for all, we operate the following booking policy.

  1. We require advance payment on booking for all classes and are unable to reserve places without payment.
  2. Materials and resources are bought to match the number of people booked onto the course. As a result we cannot guarantee places will be available on the day unless pre-booked. Please always phone to check
  3. In the event of a customer choosing to cancel their course a refund cannot be given, unless we can fill the space.
  4. Should the d.@rt Centre have to cancel a workshop you have booked onto, an alternative workshop or date will be offered. Where this is not possible or acceptable to you, a full refund will be paid
