January Highlights

We have kick started the year on a positive note…

It’s been a great start to the year here at the d.@rt centre!

We have been super busy and so have you as there has already been numerous exciting workshops taken place. Emma Morrissey has been in for her first of many workshops this year carrying out her Acrylic Landscape workshop, Pottery with Karen Donnelly was thoroughly enjoyed by her full group and lots delicious dishes have been made with Mary Hart and Chef Dan.

It’s great to see so many of you coming to the community choir, we hope you are enjoying stretching your vocal chords with the lovely Becky and look forward to many performances in the coming year.

We have had some big internal changes with regards to computer software which has helped streamline our services and improve our booking capabilities. We have had some small bumps along the way but now we have got to grips and are loving it! We appreciated your patience as always while we were learning and ironing out some issues, if you are not successful straight away please give us a call as we may have had a similar problem before and give you an answer quickly.

It’s been great to welcome some new classes and bands to the centre, we love seeing new smiley faces and hearing new sounds coming from the music rooms. Its a privilege to have such a variety of classes taking place every day of the week, catering for all ages. Ballet, Street and Irish dance, Yoga, Drama, Choirs, Bands, Languages, Zumba and the list goes on.

What’s new?

The Wordplay Festival is slowly approaching and we have some exciting activities up our sleeve for you to get involved in. This is all about celebrating of words and language in and around Hedge End. This year’s festival will major on the curious and unexpected, with wordy fun for all ages at the d.@rt.

Janet Beck is back with lots of textiles opportunities! Join her in her Saturday dressmaking workshops, suitable for beginners and those with previous dressmaking experience. Janet will guide you in creating a simple, well finished garment from cutting out to completion in a relaxed, friendly environment. From kimono tops to dresses, Janet will guide you to create your own clothing. Alternatively, Janet is leading a Tuesday Evening course to learn how to cut and assemble a garment, or bring along a project that is already started. The focus of this course will be on developing the skills needed to create well finished, high quality garments.

Chef Dan now has his own cookery school and there are lots of yummy recipes in the pipeline. Chef Dan has a been a professional chef for many years and is the head chef here at Wildern School, so you can be sure of discovering some handy tips and tricks of the trade to employ in your own cooking. Chef Dan’s Cookery School offers a range of more detailed workshops on specific types of cooking, themes such as Vegan,  Italian, Gluten Free and Easter Dinner Party treats. Take a delicious meal home from each class.

While we are on the topic of cookery, if you have more of a sweet tooth, Theone Chocolate Company Masterclasses are the ones for you! Chef John Calder, a trained and qualified patissier, will be coming in and helping you to produce beautiful, hand made artisan chocolates from the finest Belgian chocolate. From alcoholic celebration truffles and chocolate Easter eggs to parissien tarts and honeycomb, surprise and delight your family with your new found skills and treats.

Children’s holiday activities – Join us during the holidays and get stuck in with a variety of crafts and cookery. Dates available in February and April half term weeks.
