The festival takes place on Saturday May 12th 2018 from 10.30am to 5pm.
There are 3 sessions in which 4/5 choirs will perform:
Session 1: 10.30am – 12pm
Session 2: 12.30pm – 1.30pm will be a mass vocal training workshop, with guest workshop leader Dan Cooper.
This aspect of the day has proved to be a tremendous success and is open to performers and audience members. There is an additional cost of £2 for singers to participate in the workshop. Audience members can participate for just £3. see below for some information about Dan.
Session 3: 2pm – 3.30 pm
Session 4: 4pm – 5pm.
A separate rehearsal room on the first floor will be available from 10am. A rehearsal timetable table will be issued some-time in May once all details have been submitted by choirs.
The cost of participation in the festival is £3 per singer (this will cover the hire of the hall, insurance and performing rights license). This can be coordinated through your choir leader.
There is an additional cost of £2 for singers to participate in the workshop. The participation and workshop fees must be paid by March 31st.
Audience members can participate in the workshop for just £3. There is no cost for audience members to watch performance sessions 1, 3 and 4, however workshop places must be booked in advance.
If you would like to come and see the event without singing, simply turn up on the day.
Payment should be made direct to The d.@rt Centre, on 01489 779471 either by credit cards or cheque made payable to Wildern School. Please check with your choir leader as to whether they will be collating all choir details or requiring to book independently.
If booking independently, please let us know which choir you are from when booking.
We are pleased to be able to hire the Main Hall at the King’s Community Church, Upper Northam Road, Hedge End, Southampton, SO30 4BZ which is situated very close to junction 7 of the M27 as you head towards Hedge End village.
There is ample parking for 300+ cars. You can also use Turnpike Way which is opposite the golf course (next door). Parking is available for a few coaches, but please let us know if you intend to use a coach.
The festival will be held at the Kings Community Church in Hedge End. The main hall seats about 300, plus a gallery area seating 99. Visitors are most welcome and choirs are encouraged to bring friends and supporters. As choirs will be sitting in the audience until their performance slot the gallery will be used solely for visitors.
The platform will take a maximum of 72 persons. For any performers in wheelchairs, there is no ramp for the stage but the performers will be able to see clearly from the side of stage, which is semi-hexagonal in shape and will accommodate 6 rows in the following pattern:-

An electric piano will be provided and basic PA for the playing of backing tracks only.
The final programme will be published when all the details from the participating choirs are in and agreed. There will be a programme available on the day, free to all singers. Programmes will cost £2 for audience members.
Choirs need to submit their final programme by March 31st so that they can be collated and printed. PLEASE remember that a choir’s set is limited to 15 minutes max and MUST take into account getting to the platform, MD’s introductions and comments, and applause. It is vital that choirs stick to this timing so as not to over-run the sessions and to be fair to other choirs who keep within their time.
There will be a café open offering a range of hot and cold snacks throughout the day. Other places to eat are close by:- The opposite side of junction 7 has a large M&S, Sainsbury’s, McDonalds & Burger King. If you carry on down Upper Northam Road you reach Hedge End village, where there is various eateries, a Chippy, The Barleycorn Pub, a Gregg’s and a Co-Op.
